The Oakland Raiders added Oakland-native Lorenzo Alexander to the roster prior to heading to Seattle Wednesday afternoon for a Thursday night preseason tilt with the Seahawks. Alexander was released by the Arizona Cardinals shortly after their visit to play the Raiders in Oakland.

He was a team captain with the Cardinals and is highly regarded as a team leader and a special teams standout, recording 94 special teams stops throughout his career. He should add depth to the Raiders linebacking corps and veteran leadership to the special teams units.

The nine-year veteran played his college football at the nearby University of California at Berkeley. He entered the NFL as undrafted free agent with the Carolina Panthers in 2005, and after spending a year on the practice squad, he found his way to the Washington Redskins by way of a short stint with the Baltimore Ravens.
