After the New England Patriots' 20-13 loss to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC wild-card game Saturday night, the six-time Super Bowl champ and impending free agent gave a wishy-washy answer on his future. "I would say it's pretty unlikely," Brady said when asked if he plans to retire. "Hopefully unlikely. With Brady set to turn 43 before the 2021 NFL season opens, the Patriots might be looking to move on and find a younger option (sorry, Jimmy Garoppolo isn't an option). But if Brady doesn't want to retire, that means he'll have to find a new home. That combination immediately started speculation about a possible partnership with Jon Gruden and the Las Vegas Raiders. https://raiderswire.usatoday.com/2020/01/03/raiders-wr-hunter-renfrow-finishes-no-6-in-pffs-rookie-rankings/When Antonio Brown went AWOL just a few days before the regular season, the Raiders were forced to change their passing attack to fit their current set of weapons. It took the Raiders some time to gel, but one of the reasons their passing game improved is the usage of fifth-round pick Hunter Renfrow. Renfrow finished the season with 605 receiving yards and four touchdowns, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Renfrow missed three games this season, but he was significantly better for the Raiders in the second half of the season. In his final seven games, Renfrow caught 35 passes for 490 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged an incredible 14 yards per reception as he quickly became Derek Carr’s favorite target. https://heavy.com/sports/2020/01/raiders-derek-carr-2020-status-rumors/It didn’t take the season’s end for the Raiders moving on from Derek Carr rumors to start spreading. The quarterback was very close to quieting the rumors after an impressive start to the season, but going 1-5 in the season’s last six games have really hurt his chances of returning. There have been reports of a “significant disconnect” between Carr and Jon Gruden and more reports that the coach is planning on drafting a quarterback. Most reports since Gruden took over the Raiders have not been good for Carr, but a recent report from Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller may change the narrative: The Raiders have two selections in Round 1 and will go defense and wide receiver. The belief is that the team will go linebacker or wide receiver first and then circle back with a cornerback or wide receiver with the pick from Chicago. Read More...

https://heavy.com/sports/2020/01/raiders-nevin-lawson-suspension/ Myles Garrett won’t be the only player suspended in 2020 for using a helmet as a weapon. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Nevin Lawson of the Raiders will miss a game without pay for using his helmet as a weapon in the Week 17 game versus the Denver Broncos. NFL VP of Football Operations Jon Runyan issued the suspension for a fourth quarter violation of Rule 12, Section 2, Article 17, which states that: "A player may not use a helmet that is no longer worn by anyone as a weapon to strike, swing at, or throw at an opponent.” https://t.co/GBrY8rhzGB — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 3, 2020 The penalty seems to be much less stiff than the one that Garrett faced, who is still under an indefinite suspension. There hasn’t been any footage of Lawson’s hit and he was not ejected from the game. Considering he is not under contract for the Raiders in 2020, this suspension could hurt his chances of returning.
