Never one to shy from a strong opinion, Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green had some thoughts about being named to the NBA ‘s All-Defensive second team
“I should’ve been first,” Green told reporters Thursday
Paul George of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks were the first-team forwards
Green received the fewest first-team votes (two) and second-fewest total points (61) on the second team The voting was likely difficult for the 29-year-old to stomach because he said earlier this season he wanted to be thought of as the NBA’s best defender

“I need that [Defensive Player of the Year award],” he told reporters in October.

“I need that bad.

Real bad I made second-team all-defense last year I’m pissed about that still I’ll be pissed until I right that, so that’s a serious goal of mine this year And I’m on it every night”
Unfortunately, Green fell short of both of his goals George, Antetokounmpo and Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert are the three finalists for the 2018-19 Defensive Player of the Year
Per NBAcom , Green tied Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic for 35th in defensive win shares this season (89)
If it’s any consolation to Green, he has the luxury of playing in the NBA Finals for the fifth straight year and a chance to win his fourth title Facebook Logo
